The chill in the air can only mean one thing; the holidays are almost here! To kick off the most festive season of the year, One Ocean will reveal a delicious life sized surprise during our 6th annual Gingerbread Structure Unveiling. The Gingerbread Unveiling has been a beloved tradition for both our family here at One Ocean and the Atlantic Beach community. Past gingerbread structures have include a replica of One Ocean, the Polar Express and Santa’s Sleigh filled with presents!
On Tuesday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. Pastry Chef Courtney Slipko and the rest of the One Ocean pastry team will reveal this year’s scrumptious gingerbread creation. Guests will be treated to freshly baked cookies and hot tea while 7th and 8th grade students from the Palmer Catholic Academy children’s choir sing classic holiday carols.
What does it take to create these gingerbread structures every year? The One Ocean pastry team uses more than 200 pounds of butter, 400 pounds of brown sugar, 2,2000 eggs and more to bring this resort holiday tradition to life. Year after year, the team at One Ocean challenges themselves to top the previous years’ structure with a new delightful design. Although the 2013 structure will remain under wraps until the big unveiling, it is sure to be a sight to see!
