The circus is coming to town. It’s a phrase that we all remember from our childhood. And one that invariably stirred visions of crazy clowns, daredevil acrobats, ferocious animals, and never-ending surprises. Well, guess what? The circus is really coming to town. Actually, it’s returning to town. To Jacksonville, Florida, to be precise. And to be even more precise it’s coming to Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena from January 17 through January 21, 2013. And it’s not just any circus. It’s the one and only Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. This venerable entertainment behemoth will be presenting its inimitable “Greatest Show on Earth” for the 147th year in a row. Not a bad run, and one that doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. What will be beginning when they arrive in Jacksonville is their latest and greatest show on earth known as “Built To Amaze.” It features a wide array of acts from around the world that are sure to amaze, daze, and elicit many hoorays! Be prepared to be impressed with the incredible aerialists whose hair-raising high-wire acts and fantastic feats of fearlessness will not disappoint. Of course, the astonishing acrobats will be performing gravity-defying routines that are anything but routine.

Naturally, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus wouldn’t be the same if they didn’t have their signature clowns. And these wacky entertainers will no doubt be in full force. Keep an eye out for them as they make their presence known without an ounce of warning, popping up all over the place wreaking havoc and providing non-stop comic relief. Audiences will also be treated to all types of trained animals, everything from majestic elephants to fierce tigers. Other performers that you will encounter and be enchanted by include Andre McClain, Clown Alley, Danguir Troupe, Duo Fusion, Elliana Grace, Franceleib Rodrigues, King Charles Troupe, Negrey Troupe, Tabayara Mauluenda, and Wheel of Steel. Designed for audiences of all ages, “Built To Amaze” offers a modern take on the circus. And while it’s been updated for our contemporary times, you can still expect to be surprised, delighted, and even touched. In short, this circus one part tradition and one part spectacles that are brand-new. But when you add them both together, you get one terrific family-friendly entertainment package. There will be eight shows altogether in Jacksonville and you can read up on all the fun details at
