Help protect the Rhinos of Africa and Indonesia and join the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers for its 22nd annual Bowling for Rhinos event at Batt Family Fun Center on July 27th. This annual bowl-a-thon raises money for the rhinos and endangered animals protected at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, Africa, Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, Indonesia and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia.
The Bowling for Rhinos event includes three games of bowling and shoe rental for a registration fee of $15. Just sign up at the Batt Family Fun Center by 6 pm to register for this wonderful cause. Since 1990, 50 chapters across the country host BFR events and raise over $250,000 annually. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the sanctuaries to help endangered rhinos and their ecosystems. Come out and support the amazing Jacksonville AAZK Chapter, which has raised over $62,000 for this intiative.
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Ujung Kulon National Park and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park are home to some of the rarest and most endangered wildlife on earth, including theBlack and White Rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, tigers, clouded leoprads and zebras, as well as 350 bird species and rare plants. The Indonesian sanctuaries are working to ensure that the Javan and Sumatran rhinos do not become extinct.
