You can expect to see that and a whole lot more when you check out the long-awaited Gator Bowl, which will pit Mississippi State of the SEC against Northwestern of the Big Ten on January 1, 2013 at 12 noon. This classic collegiate bowl game, which will be played at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida and is sponsored by, has an incredible 67-year history where amazing plays and indelible memories have been made time after time. What’s more, a roster of truly talented football players has passed through the Gator Bowl’s venerable portals. The list begins with Heisman Trophy winners like Earl Campbell, Pat Sullivan, John David Crow, and George Rogers. In addition, some of the game’s best known and revered players participated in the Gator Bowl, including Archie Manning and his prodigy progeny Peyton, Dan Marino, Larry Csonka, and Thurman Thomas. And don’t forget the top coaches who have set foot in this historic bowl game. These include Steve Spurrier, Vince Dooley, and Bobby Bowden.

If you’re one of the lucky ones who have secured a ticket to the 2013 Gator Bowl, you’re in for a real treat. Not only will you be a witness to history in the form of the actual game, but there will be a plethora of pre-game events and activities that you’re not going to want to miss. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting a breakfast on December 29 at 8:00 a.m. and it will be attended by coaches and players from both Gator Bowl teams. The day before the game, on December 31, there will be several opportunities to get in touch with your inner rah-rah. Both teams will be holding pep rallies featuring a boisterous band and cheerful cheerleaders at Jacksonville Landing at 5:00 p.m. To really get in shape for the matchup, you can lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement for the Gator Bowl VyStar 5KRun at 10:00 a.m. You’ll run on a scenic course that hugs Jacksonville’s beautiful Riverwalk. Of course, the Gator Bowl wouldn’t be the same without the inimitable Bowl Parade at 3:00 p.m. The stellar all-star line-up includes high-stepping high school bands, the must-see Miss Jacksonville USA Pageant, and the dynamic Daytona Harley Davidson Drill Team.
