- Since 1986, Dancin’ in the Street has provided music lovers nearly 12 hours of entertainment during this one-day festival. Events start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th, in the Beaches Town Center, where the ocean meets Atlantic Boulevard. This beachfront community features all things local during this event, including music, food, fun, and art.
Dancin’ in the Street began after Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach merchants met to assemble an outdoor party of sorts. What might have started out simple enough has grown to encompass the thousands of people who assemble for its harmonious, soulful tunes. Sixteen bands, ranging from rock and alternative to blues and R&B, will keep spectators swaying to the beat until the festival wraps up around 9 p.m.
Two stages will provide alternating entertainment for the masses. A new set begins every half hour, beginning at 11:30 a.m. with Fish Out of Water at the corner of First Street and Orange Street and then at noon with State of Mind on the Ocean Stage. Longtime participants — such as the rock ‘n roll band Ralph E. & the Jammers — and newcomers will keep the beat alive all-day long.
Keep your little ones and big kids busy at the KIDS ZONE. While enjoying the ocean breeze and foot-tapping music, your kids can ride the Ferris wheel, play putt putt golf, and grab a snack for $12. Afterward, make your way down to the Art Show, featuring local artistry in pottery, woodcarvings, jewelry, and more.
Grab your dancing shoes, and make your way toward the oceanfront to kick off summer with this annual festival. Locally crafted foods, nearby musical performances, and family-fun activities come together for this entertainment-centered festival in bright, sunny Jacksonville.
